Phys. Rev. D 41, 1855–1861 (1990)Dissipative relativistic fluid theories of divergence typeReceived 30 October 1989; published in the issue dated 15 March 1990 We investigate the theories of dissipative relativistic fluids in which all of the dynamical equations can be written as total-divergence equations. Extending the analysis of Liu, Müller, and Ruggeri, we find the general theory of this type. We discuss various features of these theories, including the causality of the full nonlinear evolution equations and the nature and stability of the equilibrium states. © 1990 The American Physical Society URL:
