Phys. Rev. D 45, 2802–2805 (1992)Inflation in inhomogeneous cosmologyReceived 8 July 1991; published in the issue dated 15 April 1992 We discuss the onset of inflation in an inhomogeneous, asymptotically Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe coupled to a scalar inflaton field. We consider a three-parameter family of inhomogeneous Cauchy data, for which we can solve analytically the constraint equations. Inflation only occurs if the Cauchy data are homogeneous over several horizon lengths. © 1992 The American Physical Society URL:
