We apply the Padé summation to the β(λ) function for the quartic Higgs coupling λ in the standard electroweak model. We use the β function calculated to five loops in the minimal subtraction scheme to demonstrate the improvement resulting from the summation, and then apply the method to the more physical on-mass-shell renormalization scheme where β is known to three loops. We find that the apparent convergence of the perturbation series for β is significantly improved, and apply the result to the study of the running coupling λ(s).
