Phys. Rev. D 59, 013007 (1998) [8 pages]Extracting information on CKM phases, electroweak penguin diagrams, and new physics from B⃗VV decaysReceived 4 May 1998; published 2 December 1998 We derive constraints for B⃗V1V2 modes (V1,2=vector meson) that allow a model-independent quantitative assessment of the contributions from electroweak penguin diagrams and/or new physics. The interplay of direct CP with oscillation studies then may lead to the extraction of the angle α, using B⃗K*ω(ρ) and B⃗ρω(φ). Any reservation one may have can be explicitly verified in a model-independent way by assuming only isospin conservation. We also briefly mention how the method can be used to extract γ via Bs decays: Bs→K*ρ, K*K*. © 1998 The American Physical Society URL:
