D 60, 067505 (1999) [3 pages]Chronology protection in generalized Gödel spacetimeReceived 14 December 1998; published 25 August 1999 The effective action of a free scalar field propagating in the generalized Gödel spacetime is evaluated by the ζ-function regularization method. From the result we show that the renormalized stress energy tensor may be divergent at the chronology horizon.
