Phys. Rev. D 64, 103503 (2001) [4 pages]Extended quintessence and its late-time dominationReceived 18 April 2001; published 19 October 2001 Various astronomical observations point towards evidence of dark energy. One of the most mysterious problems is the coincidence problem: why dark energy has become dominant only recently. We present a scenario based on extended quintessence models to explain the late-time domination of dark energy without a severe fine-tuning of the initial conditions and model parameters. © 2001 The American Physical Society URL:
