Various astronomical observations point towards evidence of dark energy. One of the most mysterious problems is the coincidence problem: why dark energy has become dominant only recently. We present a scenario based on extended quintessence models to explain the late-time domination of dark energy without a severe fine-tuning of the initial conditions and model parameters.
