D 69, 064038 (2004) [15 pages]Metric perturbation approach to gravitational waves in isotropic cosmologiesReceived 2 October 2003; published 26 March 2004 Gravitational waves in isotropic cosmologies were recently studied using the gauge-invariant approach of Ellis and Bruni. We now construct the linearized metric perturbations of the background Robertson-Walker space-time which reproduce the results obtained in that study.
